What is Dry Batch Concrete Batching Plant

Dry batch concrete batching plant is a dry mixed concrete plant. As the name suggests, it is a dry type mixing process, without central concrete mixer in the system. Dry concrete batch plant is a special plant used to mix concrete which compared to the wet batch concrete batching plants. Or we can say it is only a concrete plant to weigh different materials such as aggregates, sand, cement and water, but without mixing procedure.

Working Principle of Dry Mix Concrete Batching Plants

The dry mixed concrete plant is more efficient than wet mixed concrete plant, but it must work together with the mixer truck to mix the concret.

1. Material Proportioning Process

Aggregate materials such as gravel, sand and cement are precisely weighed by load cells. Then all the raw materials are discharged into a chute into the mixer truck. Meanwhile, the measured amount of water is discharged into the mixer truck. After several same procedures, the mixer truck is fed fully. Then it will be the next step.

2. Mixing (performed in the transit mixer truck)

After all the materials for concrete fed into the mixer truck, the mixer truck will leave to the place where require the concrete. Then the concrete is mixed on the way to the site. But, please note that if the mixer truck is used to work together with dry concrete batching plant, its mixing blade must be customized. It is not the same as the common blade for wet concrete. Because the concrete inside the mixer truck drum, it is a gravity mixing process. If you want to get a better quality concrete, forced stirring is required to achieve this effect. So, the additional mixing blade is added inside the mixer truck drum.

Types of Dry Batch Concrete Batching Plants

According to the different requirements from our clients, HAMAC designed two types of dry batch concrete batching plant. Mobile type and stationary type for different contractor or projects.

1. Mobile Dry Batch Mixing Plants

The mobile one is equipped with wheels and towing system, it can be towed by a truck tractor to move between different working sites. It is equipped with manual lifting support legs, so the foundation is not needed. It is very convenient for the end user.

2. Stationary Dry Batch Mixing Plants

The stationary dry batch concrete plant for sale is a little cheaper compared with mobile dry batch concrete plant based on the same capacity. Because it is without the towing system and wheels system. Because it is stationary type, so some parts such as aggregate batching machine, belt conveyor, cement silo can be bigger and loner. Its capacity can be designed to be a bigger capacity. Not like the mobile type, it must be not so big because you have to move it.

Difference Between Dry and Wet Batch Concrete Plant

The only two types of batching plants that matter is the dry mix batching concrete plant and the wet batching concrete plant. Each of these kinds of concrete batching plant is used to produce concrete but the key difference lies in the way that wet batching plants can produce concrete without help. 1. Concrete quality from dry and wet batch concrete plant

Because wet type concrete batching plant is equipped with a twin shafts concrete mixer, it is a forced type concrete mixer. That means the raw materials such as gravel, sand, cement, water and additive are mixed inside the concrete mixer by its mixing blade, this is a forced mixing process, so different materials are mixed very evenly, and the quality of the concrete is relatively better. But the dry batch concrete plant, all the materials are only weighed by the concrete batching plant, the mixing procedure is done inside the concrete transit mixer truck. In this mixing process, gravity is more relied on for stirring. Obviously, compared to forced mixing, the concrete produced by gravity mixing is not so uniform, and the quality will be relatively poor.

2. Maintenance and cost

Compared with wet type concrete plant, the dry type concrete plant is without concrete mixer, so its cost is much lower, and no need to maintain the concrete mixer, its total cost is lower. One more important aspect, power consumption, because without concrete mixer, the power consumption of dry batch concrete batching plant is much lower, it will save the cost as well.

Suitable Projects and Cases for Dry Concrete Batch Plants

Because of the quality of concrete from the dry concrete batch plants, it is more suitable for simple projects such as low residential houses, rural roads and some projects that do not have particularly high requirements on concrete quality. If the project is highway, big bridge, water conservancy projects, tunnels which require high quality concrete, the wet concrete batch plants is recommended.
